matsFi Wrapped & What's Coming For Mezo

Mezo is all about community empowerment and experimentation.

mats, short for “magic sats,” are Mezo points, but they’re so much more than points. They represent the heart of a vibrant marketplace where creativity, experimentation, and the Bitcoin community come together. mats empower users to participate in games, tip fellow community members, build reputation, and create unique projects and experiences, all while contributing to Mezo’s ecosystem.

Our first implementation of matsFi has transformed simple interactions into meaningful, rewarding user experiences, totaling over 33m mats volume transacted between users.

The Hackathon

Our current matsFi Hackathon, in partnership with Drip, has best embodied this spirit of experimentation. Here’s a taste of what’s already brewing in the Mezo community:

• Mallard Labs’ matsCraft: Imagine mats as the currency of Minecraft, where players can earn mats by mining blocks, trading items, and exploring mats ores generated throughout matsCraft worlds.
• Celeris: A native, on-chain payroll manager designed for Discord that allows teams to automate payments using mats, streamlining team collaboration.
• m²: A staking protocol where users can stake mats and receive stmats as proof of stake, allowing them to actively engage with mats in new and innovative ways.
• LowPolyMarket: Create prediction markets, set the stakes, and let others join in (if they have the mats to back it up). Bet on anything from election outcomes and token prices to what will be said at the next WateringHodl.

Hackathon submissions are currently undergoing final reviews and will be scored based on innovation, execution, and alignment with Mezo’s ecosystem goals. An Era of Transition

We’re entering a new chapter. Some boosts are being retired, and we’re officially wrapping up the stBTC minting on Mezo to prepare for our next phase. All stBTC minting will now occur directly on Acre.

Simplifying stBTC

For those who took part in the stBTC journey, it’s time to unlock your crv-stBTC deposits and redeem your stBTC.

As of today, stBTC minting has been disabled in the Mezo Portal. We’ve provided a detailed guide for unwinding your stBTC positions and redeeming your tBTC or WBTC, which you can access here.

Boost Reductions

To maintain a sustainable economy, we’re reducing boosts and focusing only on BTC-based and T token boosts. This change is a necessary step toward balancing the incentive structure, ensuring that Mezo remains as efficient as possible as we prepare for upcoming launches. By selectively offering boosts, we can prevent dilution and keep the mats economy vibrant.

The growth we’ve seen from matsFi has been nothing short of impressive. With over 158k transactions, Mezo has become a hive of activity where the community engages, tips, plays, and builds together.
