To celebrate over $32.8 million in mUSD borrowed across 2,393 users, Mezo is excited to introduce a new incentive on matsnet Alpha: you can now earn mats by borrowing mUSD.
Beginning Tuesday, February 11th, users who borrow mUSD on matsnet Alpha will automatically earn mats, Mezo’s testnet rewards.
A new way to earn mats
In our prior post, we discussed how to borrow mUSD via mats. Today, we’re building on that foundation and amplifying the incentives: You can earn mats simply by creating and maintaining an mUSD loan.
The core process remains unchanged:
- Deposit BTC Collateral: Lock BTC on Mezo and earn mats.
- Burn mats for sats: Convert earned mats into testnet sats.
- Borrow mUSD: Mint mUSD against your collateral sats.
- Monitor Your Ratio: Stay above 150% collateralization to avoid liquidation.
- Minimum Borrow Requirement: You must borrow at least 2,000 mUSD to open a new loan.
Now, here’s the upgrade:
- Earn mats Automatically: For every mUSD borrowed, you accrue mats rewards.
- Existing Loans Qualify: If you’ve already borrowed mUSD, your rewards start accumulating on February 11th.
- Perpetual Growth: Cover your earned mats into sats and repeat the cycle.
Example:
- Borrow 10,000 mUSD → Earn 1,000 mats.
- Burn 1,000 mats → Get 10,000 sats (testnet).
- Deposit 10,000 sats → Borrow ~9,000 mUSD (at 110% collateral ratio).
- Now you’re earning mats on 19,000 mUSD (original + new borrow).
The cycle compounds. The more you engage, the more you earn—and the more you stress-test the system. This will allow us to gain valuable insights, improve Mezo, and provide users with the best Bitcoin loan experience possible.
